Hey Alan. I like the idea of calling them civil unions when religion isn’t involved. That could defintely help with perspective. It’s interesting that you and your partner have been together forever and got married for reasons other than love! I couldn’t agree more that marriage isn’t necessary for commitment. It won’t magically make a person monogamous and loyal if they struggled with it prior.
